About
Jasmina Kecic Mihic is a professional painter born in Novi Sad, Serbia. She earned her art degree from the University of Belgrade’s Faculty of Fine Arts in 1986 and went on to complete her master's studies there three years later. Her artwork has been showcased in numerous solo and group exhibitions internationally.
Between 1993 and 2003, Jasmina lived in South Africa, where she engaged in graphic and web design alongside her painting career. From 2003 to 2012, she resided in New Zealand. In 2012, she moved to Australia, where she continues to live and create in her studio in Sydney to this day.
In her art, Jasmina examines the boundary between reality and illusion, creating works that reflect a recognisable reality yet are enriched with unexpected elements. Her paintings often address themes of transience, technological progress, and the perpetual conflict between the traditional and the modern.
For Jasmina, the canvas becomes a window to different realms, places of encounter with scenes that diverge from the norm, where reality is reenvisioned through the internal landscapes of her artistic imagination. The works of Jasmina Kecic Mihic transcend conventional aesthetic experience; they are an invitation to journey through alternate realities that arouse curiosity, inspire, and stimulate thought.
